Botox®, Juvéderm®, Voluma and More
Over the last several years, non-surgical cosmetic treatments like injectable treatments and dermal fillers have gained popularity among those who crave a younger appearance but don’t wish to undergo an invasive procedure. These treatments, which are used to dramatically lessen signs of facial aging, include injections for smoothing out wrinkles and creases, adding youthful volume to the face and correcting sagging skin. The result is a more youthful appearance without the long recovery time of a surgical procedure. Depending on the type of treatment, your results can last several months up to two or more years.
If you’re looking for a quick, non-invasive cosmetic treatment that delivers immediate results with zero downtime, then an injectable treatment may be the perfect solution for you. What Injectables and Fillers Address
- Fine lines around the nose and mouth
- “Crow’s feet” lines around the eyes
- Deep furrows on the forehead
- Hollowed-looking eyes and cheeks
- Extra fat around the jaw and neck (the “double chin” effect)
- Vertical bands on the neckThin lips
Botox® and Dysport
Botox® and Dysport are the most popular injectable treatments used to temporarily smooth out fine lines, wrinkles and even deeper creases on the face. These injectables use a neurotoxin to temporarily relax the targeted facial muscles that, when constricted, cause facial wrinkles. Results from a Botox® treatment can last up to six months after one treatment; Dysport results may last longer.
Juvéderm® is an injectable gel with a hyaluronic acid base that binds to the water molecules in the area, increasing volume in the area. This dermal filler effectively smoothes out fine lines, wrinkles and deep facial folds. Juvéderm® is also used for lip augmentation for fuller, plumper lips. Juvéderm® results can last up to six months.
Voluma is one of the latest dermal fillers in the Juvéderm® family of products. This hyaluronic acid gel filler is most often used to fill out the cheeks, chin, jaw line, temples and other areas prone to volume loss and loss of sagging skin as a result of aging or weight loss. Voluma results are long-lasting and the treatment produces a smoother and more youthful look that lasts up to two years.
Restylane® is hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler with a firm consistency that is perfect for filling deeper creases on the face, like those on the forehead and nasolabial folds between the nose and mouth. Results typically last six months.
Perlane® is a hyaluronic gel filler made by Restylane® that is used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles and folds on the face. This dermal filler is injected deep into the skin, smoothing wrinkles and creating more volume in areas, like the mid-face, that often lose volume due to aging.
Sculptra® is a dermal filler made from polylactic acid, a substance used to replace collagen in the skin that has been lost due to the aging process. This injectable filler is perfect for addressing wrinkles and filling out areas hollowed out from collagen and elastin loss. The results of a Sculptra® treatment appear gradually over time, with final results that typically last two or more years.
Radiesse® is an injectable filler made with tiny calcium microspheres that stimulate collagen growth. The renewed collagen plumps up the skin in the treatment area, smoothing out even the most prominent lines (like those around the nose and mouth) and creating a younger look. Radiesse® outcomes are gradual, with final results lasting a year or more.
Kybella® is an injectable treatment used to reduce extra fat around the chin and neck area, (i.e., a “double chin”). This injectable is made of deoxycholic acid, a natural substance found in the body. The treatment works by destroying fat cells in the treatment area, creating a slimmer, more defined chin contour.
How an Injectable Treatment Works
An injectable treatment is a non-invasive procedure that typically takes between 15 and 30 minutes to administer. A topic anesthetic is sometimes used to numb the treatment area, and then a fine needle is used to inject the substance. Since there is zero downtime, you can return to work and other normal activities immediately after treatment.
After an Injectable Treatment
After an injectable cosmetic treatment, you will likely experience mild soreness and redness on the treatment area. Some patients may also experience some mild bruising, though this is rare and can easily be concealed with makeup. These aftereffects typically last no longer than a day or two. Avoid rubbing or massaging the injection site for the first couple of hours. Regular exercise can be resumed within a day or two of your treatment. Results are often noticeable immediately or within a day or so of treatment, though some fillers have results that appear more gradually over time.
