Your Top Resource When Considering Plastic Surgery
The latest statistics collected by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) revealed that over 20 million cosmetic procedures were performed in one recent year alone. With both women and men increasingly looking to plastic surgery to improve their appearance, there is more demand for board-certified plastic surgeons with the proper credentials, experience and high patient satisfaction rate that sets them above the rest.
At Leading Medical Clinics of the World®, we understand the need to find a trusted source of medical practitioners, including plastic surgeons, who have been vetted by a rigorous evaluation process by their medical colleagues. That is why we have created our list of clinics, which includes the world’s top surgeons in every discipline. If you are considering plastic surgery, we’ll help you ensure that you have picked the best of the best when you select a plastic surgeon from our network.
Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures
Breast augmentation is a breast enhancement procedure that increases the size of the breasts through the use of breast implants or a patient’s own fat through the fat transfer process. Breast implants made of saline, silicone and a highly cohesive silicone gel (often called a “gummy bear” implant) are available in a variety of sizes and shapes, including an anatomically correct “teardrop” shape.
Breast lift surgery lifts sagging breasts to a higher position on the chest wall, creating a more youthful-looking breast contour. This surgery is used to counteract the ptosis, or breast sag, that is common due to aging, genetics, pregnancy and weight loss. This surgery is sometimes combined with breast augmentation for women who desire breasts that are both fuller and perkier.
Breast reduction is a procedure that reduces the volume of overly large breasts that cause common issues for a woman, including back, neck and shoulder pain, discomfort while engaging in sports and self-consciousness.
Breast revision surgery is a secondary breast surgery that is sometimes necessary to correct complications that can occur from breast augmentation surgery. The breast revision procedure will correct problems like capsular contracture (where implants harden as a result of scar tissue forming around them) and other implant issues, like rippling or folding. Breast revision surgery is also sometimes used when a patient wants to replace their implants with a different size (usually larger) or shape implant.
Male breast reduction is a surgical procedure that was created to address enlarged male breast tissue, or gynecomastia, in men. This problem often causes men embarrassment and physical discomfort as a result of having a puffy, feminine-looking chest. Male breast reduction surgery reduces breast size by removing excess fat, tissue and skin for a more defined, masculine chest appearance.
Liposuction is a fat removal procedure that smooths out the common “problem areas” for women and men, including the stomach, thighs, hips and back. There are many liposuction techniques, including some that use ultrasound waves and lasers to destroy fat cells. The liposuction procedure removes both the fat and fat cells in the treatment area via a small suction tube called a cannula. The result is a slimmer, more attractive body shape.
Tummy tuck surgery, or abdominoplasty, is used to eliminate excess stomach fat for a flatter, more defined stomach. Patients can choose from a full abdominoplasty procedure, which removes fat from the entire abdomen, or a partial abdominiplasty (also called a “mini tummy tuck”), which removes a smaller amount of fat from the lower abdomen only. Both procedures involve an incision made low on the abdomen, in the pubic area. The partial abdominoplasty procedure requires a shorter scar than the full abdominoplasty procedure.
Mommy makeover is a combination of two or more plastic surgery procedures meant to bring a woman’s body back to its pre-pregnancy shape. The most common mommy makeover combinations include breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck and liposuction.
Labiaplasty is a procedure that removes excess skin from the labia, or vaginal lips. This surgery, which may correct the inner or outer labia (or both), is ideal for women who experience discomfort or embarrassment due to enlarged labia. Common problems corrected by this procedure include chafing while exercising, discomfort during intercourse and embarrassment due to noticeable bulges when wearing tight clothes.
Butt augmentation has become increasingly popular in recent years, and involves adding volume to the buttocks through gluteal implants or a patient’s fat via fat transfer from another area of the body (often a “problem area” that has excess fat) to the buttocks. This procedure is called a Brazilian butt lift.
Facelift surgery corrects sagging skin, wrinkles and deep crevices that occur on the face as a result of aging, genetics or weight fluctuations. There are several types of facelift surgeries, as some target the entire face while others target the upper or lower face only, providing a smoother-looking, more defined face and/or neck contour that makes the patient look several years younger.
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a procedure that addresses drooping upper eyelids and puffy under-eye bags, or both, for a younger and more alert facial appearance. The procedure involves removing or repositioning fat from the upper or lower lids via a small incision hidden in the lash line (for lower lids) or in the natural crease of the eyelid (for upper lids). Along with fat, loose skin is removed from the area and the underlying facial muscles are sometimes tightened.
Brow lift surgery improves the appearance of forehead creases and a falling brow line that often occur as a result of the aging process. A surgeon will make small incisions around the hairline, trim excess, loose skin from the forehead and lift the remaining skin to move the forehead to a higher position, smoothing out forehead creases and lifting the brow line to a more youthful position in the process.
Rhinoplasty is a nose reshaping procedure that improves the appearance and sometimes function of the nose. This surgery is often used to address bumps on the nasal bridge, correct a drooping nasal tip and reshape the width and/or length of the nose. Though rhinoplasty is most commonly performed for aesthetic reasons, some patients use it to relieve nasal breathing issues.
Botox® is an injectable treatment that temporarily relaxes facial muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles on the face, including the “crow’s feet” lines around the eyes, lines between the eyebrows, and nasolabial lines that run from the nose to the outer corners of the mouth.
Dermal fillers improve the face’s appearance by plumping skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and even deeper creases on the face. They can also be used to add volume to areas of the face — like around the eyes and cheeks — that have a “hollowed out” look due to collagen loss and sagging skin as a result of aging.
